Music is about friendship, community, and good times. And if you're entertaining for pay, it's also about being professional.

I've long abandoned the idea of "trying to make it" in the music business, along with band politics and other negative things that do nothing to fortify or enrich my life.

Gigs are about bringing the party to the people, ensuring their good times. It's being part of the party, while maintaining professional composure. I do not drink during performances.

Jam sessions are about bringing the fun to us, the musicians. No getting wasted, but I will have a beer.

Good music. Decent people. Good times.

That's what it should be all about. Anything less is unacceptable, and borders on pointless.
